Hawke’s Bay Woolscourers

The Hawke’s Bay Woolscourers plant at Awatoto, Napier, cleans and processes wool for production and export — some of the finest wool in the world. The systems they use and stringent security measures they take are supported by GCT’s responsive service and innovative solutions.

Fifteen years ago Hawke’s Bay Woolscourers (HBWS) sought a new ICT supplier that could keep up with the plant’s needs, and take care of increasing requirements around the management and security of data and access. We spoke to Louise Winhall, Administration Manager at HBWS, about how GCT has been a part of their journey.

We were seeking a new tech firm and becoming more aware of risk management, so were looking to take care of those concerns. Someone recommended Glenn Cook Technologies and we’ve been working with them ever since.

Reliable managed services

To keep the day-to-day operations ticking over Glenn Cook Technologies supports HBWS with their everyday IT requirements, providing proactive managed services — including monitoring HBWS systems and processes and taking care of the server and desktops. GCT also provides advice and guidance on HBWS’ IT strategy, supporting their mission to be more resilient, secure and efficient.

Specialist, tailored support

In addition to the technical aspects of the everyday operations, GCT also supports HBWS with specialist solutions through times of change and growth, such as installing electrical room monitoring equipment that alerts HBWS employees when temperature thresholds are exceeded, or power failures and surges occur. When running underground cabling proved difficult, GCT overcame the challenge by designing and installing point-to-point wireless. GCT also merged the applications, data, email and other IT systems when HBWS purchased another plant.

GCT looks after our network, servers, and they take care of all our updates and security. It’s so helpful to have GCT available to iron out the kinks and take care of our ICT needs.
